Matter Of Balance: A Falls Prevention Program

About
A program designed by researchers at MaineHealth to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults or persons at risk of falling.

This program was rigorously tested and proven to effectively help persons gain self-confidence and become more active. 

Curriculum
Class participants will learn to:

  • View falls as controllable
  • Set goals for increasing activity
  • Make changes to reduce fall risk at home
  • Exercise to increase strength and balance

Duration
Workshops meet:

  • Once a week (same day)
  • 2 hours (same time)
  • 8 consecutive weeks

    OR

  • Twice a week (same days)
  • 2 hours (same times)
  • 4 consecutive weeks
