Tell us about your family and your accomplishments.

  • I was a fireman for 36 years. The Ogelthorpe Fire Station had me cut the ribbon on the new station. I'm the oldest fireman left in this area.
  • In WWII for three years and served in England and France.
  • With my wife for 53 years. We had three children, one boy and 2 girls.
  • We have five grandkids and five great grands.

Do you visit a senior center?

Yes.  Oconee County.

How long have you been attending the center? What made you start going to the center?
At least three years. I went in Jackson County and when I moved, came here. I really liked it.

What kinds of activities do you enjoy at the center?

BINGO and exercise.

How has the center helped you Age Well and Live Well?

By being nice to me.  

Do you volunteer at your senior center or at other community organizations?  

He helps wash dishes and clean tables. Anything they need him to do - he'll do.

What advice would you give to young people today on how to live a good long life?

Exercise and work hard.
